David Bowie Tour London – Music Walking Tour

Bowie in London — Covent Garden & Soho rock walk, with option of Brixton or Marylebone
Why travel with a copycat, when you can go with the ORIGINAL London Rock Tour!
Trace the early days of Davey Jones, from ‘Tin Pan Alley’ and his time as a office PA earning pocket money, through the transformation into David Bowie and the birth of his most famous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. Your Bowie London walking tour also includes places for 80s new wave/new romantics, bands and artists influenced by David Bowie.
Walk in the footsteps of the Thin White Duke, from small Covent Garden clubs like Middle Earth, to the Beatles’ Savile Theatre, where he saw Hendrix burn his guitar. Explore the different incarnations of Bowie’s career, from Konrads to King Bees to Manish Boys, Feathers and into Ziggy. ‘Meet’ the people who helped David craft his career path, including Lindsay Kemp and Tony Visconi.
HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR BOWIE CENTRAL LONDON WALK INCLUDE: venues including Middle Earth, Marquee, 100 Club, Tiles, Savile Theatre, Billy’s, WAG, Jack of Clubs, The Scene, Archer St Casino; recording studios Trident and Good Earth; mgt offices for Tony Visconti & Main Man Music; Lindsey Kemp’s former dance studio; see where Ziggy Stardust ‘was born’ and get yourself ‘in the frame’ where the famed Ziggy album cover was taken. Along the way, explore the jazz/r&b/blues/Mod scenes where Bowie hung on the fringe. Perhaps raise a glass in the pub said to have been Bowie’s favourite… or a place named in his honor, like the Starman… spoilt for choice in London’s West End area!
This suggested ‘half day’ 4 hour max walk is approx 3 miles with several break options along the way.

With your tour guide as companion, round out your 4 hours by taking the tube to Brixton to see the Bowie mural (photo above) and his childhood home.
Brixton is a great oft overlooked part of London. Explore the markets and have a brief overview of the varied music scenes in this part of South London (or make it a ‘full day’ 8 hour tour and get the full tilt boogie experience of Brixton! Note cost of public transport is separate from the tour price/paid directly on the day please.)
Alternatively, instead of Brixton, as time permits, continue with your London Rock Tour guide through part of Mayfair/Fitzrovia (more venues to explore) and into Marylebone to see a former home and re-create a famous photo in Manchester Square. Then you have the option to explore the lovely Wallace Collection, one of Bowie’s fav museums, after your tour concludes there.
