The Kinks: on a ‘Sunny Afternoon’
Half Day Tour – Afternoon
The Kinks are the quintessential London band and this tour explores their life and times in this great city. Born and raised in the city’s northern neighbourhood of Muswell Hill, with their musical roots firmly planted in London’s history it’s unsurprising that so many of their songs feature London locations and life in the lyrics. Our ‘sunny afternoon’ tour brings the Kink’s history to life and provides a unique way of seeing the UK’s capital from ‘Waterloo’ to ‘Holloway Goal’ and from the ‘Village Greens’ to the ‘Dead End Streets’. We’ll seek them here, we’ll seek them there …
On this tour you’ll see Denmark Terrace, the Davies brothers family home where the Kink’s ‘sound’ was born; the Clissold pub, now a shrine to the band, and where the Kinks performed their first and last show. We’ll visit their old school. You’ll see studios where the greatest songs were recorded, including Konk. You’ll see some famed photographic sites, including album cover locations and we’ll bring the lyrics alive passing such places at Tin Pan Alley and the ‘Working Man’s Cafe’. All in all, this is the ultimate tour for Kinks and Ray Davies fans and you wont be asking ‘Where have all the good times gone?’ as you’ll be having them on this tour!
We suggest that you combine this tour with tickets for the award-winning Kinks musical ‘Sunny Afternoon’ which is booking at the Pinter Theatre, Piccadilly, until October.
