2 day tour option

Day 1 – Take the road less travelled, via areas well known to The Who and Led Zep. Start out exploring West London, a wealth of options for some time rockin’ outside the capital. Choices this morning include: Marc Bolan’s death tree and shrine; site of Marshall Amps birthplace; various Yardbirds places; homes of Mitch Mitchell, Dusty Springfield, Rick Wakeman, Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie, Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott; Led Zeppelin’s rehearsal rooms; Deep Purple’s communal house, favourite pub and rehearsal studio;  Punk sites including the Nashville and various Sex Pistols/Clash sites are also possible depending on our route out of London.

Alternatively do a bit of Beatles at Chiswick House. Later, the charming ‘regatta’ village of Henley On Thames where George Harrison settled in his estate Friar Park. Dusty Springfield lived and passed away in this charming village, her memorial is in nearby St Mary’s churchyard. There is often an annual festival here in her honour. This is a lovely area to spend a few afternoon hours along the riverside.

Later, make the way past Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios (not opened to the public) to our overnight base in/near the Georgian city of Bath. Staying overnight, miss the mad throng of daytrippers!

Day 2 – Across the bridge into South Wales today, visiting Raglan Castle, as seen in Robert Plant’s dream segment in ‘The Song Remains the Same’ film. Also in this area, though at present not opened to the public, is the legendary recording studios of Rockfield. This area of Monmouthshire, Wales is full of charming market towns. Return to London by early evening.
