Celebrating over 50 years of Prog Rock

‘Prog Rock’ celebrated musical virtuosity. Sometimes over the top with long solos and elaborate stage shows, the original music, particularly of the late 60s and early 70s, was nevertheless unforgettable and unsurpassed. And now a new generation of fans are discovering this fabulous musical genre and the sex, drugs and rock’n’roll stories that made these bands legendary.

Join us on this celebratory tour and see where the Prog legends recorded, played and lived. Bands featured include YES, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, ELP, Genesis, Soft Machine, Caravan, Renaissance, SuperTramp and Camel.

Hear a raft of stories that explore the bands’ often turbulent and controversial pasts as we travel across London. Put Prog Rock into its musical, geographical and historic context and you’ll learn more about the personalities involved in their sometimes controversial journey.

Highlights can include: the Soho locations where iconic events like YES’s first meetings took place and where the band first rehearsed; the studio where Genesis made the bulk of their early work and where band members lived.

Chelsea, Kensington and Notting Hill — sites of many of the bands’ first gigs and some of their most memorable ‘watershed’ shows such as those at the famed UFO Club, Royal Albert Hall, The Marquee Club, Lyceum, and Kensington’s ‘Blaises’.

London studios where iconic recordings were made including  Sound Techniques, Advsion, Trident, Sarm, RAK and Townhouse. Add to this the studios of individual band members, management and record company offices and the location of instantly recognisable publicity and album photos, and you have a great musical adventure!

SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR PRIVATE DEPARTURES

This is a custom tour available for private departures. Cost is based on size of the vehicle, how many people, if you choose a half day (2 – 4 hours) or a full day (up to 8 hours.)
