LED ZEP COMMEMORATION DAY — A LED ZEP Day Trip from Central London — Spend the day out in the English countryside, exploring the highlights of Led Zeppelin band members. Start the day seeing Olympic Studios in Barnes, where many legendary albums were made, including several Led Zep albums. Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, The Who and many others also recorded here.

Then make the way in and around Windsor, where you can pay respects at The Old Mill House, once home to Jimmy Page, the place where we lost John Bonham. Perhaps pass by Bray Studios, used as a rehearsal space for the band.

Jimmy bought The Boathouse in the charming Berkshire village of Pangbourne in 1967, reportedly for the sum of £6000. It was here he later met Robert Plant, here, they formed the band that became Led Zeppelin.  Return to Central London this evening.

If you have the time, choose a multi day LED ZEP adventure! Take a fantastic journey of discovery for all Led Zep fans, through the West Country, Wales, and the English Midlands. This is a wonderful opportunity of seeing some pretty and historic parts of England and Wales while indulging our passion for the World’s Greatest Rock Band!

If you have 2 or 3 days, then you can have a nice adventure around West London, Reading, Windsor and South Wales OR The Midlands of Plant & Bonham. To include both Wales and the Midlands/Birmingham area, then we recommend at least 3 or even 4 days.

If you want to include all of these place and also North Wales, Bron Yr Aur etc, then a week is strongly recommended for comfort’s sake, but obviously you could spend longer to really soak in the Welsh countryside!

SAMPLE ITINERARIES INCLUDE:

ZEP 2 day London’s Western Suburbs & South Wales option

West & South Wales Day 1 – start in London, head directly to Jimmy Page‘s former haunts in and around Windsor and Pangbourne. Pay respects at The Old Mill House, once home to Jimmy Page and the place where we lost John Bonham. Jimmy bought The Boathouse in the charming Berkshire village of Pangbourne in 1967, reportedly for the sum of £6000. It was here he later met Robert Plant, here where they formed the band that became Led Zeppelin. 

Time and interest permitting, perhaps some time in George Harrison’s former village of Henley on Thames, or a visit to Dusty Springfield’s grave, before making our way across the bridge into South Wales.

West & South Wales Day 2 – South Wales today, visiting Raglan Castle, as seen in Robert Plant’s dream segment in The Song Remains the Same film. Also in this area, though at present not opened to the public, is the legendary recording studios of Rockfield. This area of Monmouthshire, Wales is full of charming market towns. Headed leisurely back to London, our route takes us via the stunning Black Mountains and the English Cotswolds. Perhaps Traffic’s Jim Capaldi’s home village of Evesham? Return to London by early evening.

ZEP 2 day London’s Western Suburbs & Midlands option

Midlands Day 1 – start in London, head directly to Jimmy Page’s former ‘haunts’ in and around Windsor and Pangbourne. Later, a motorway drive north to Birmingham. This evening is the opportunity to hit the city nightlife in Birmingham.

Many bands have come out of this former industrial mecca, Black Sabbath & Judas Priest among them. Also from Birmingham are Duran Duran, The Move, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Steel Pulse, Chicken Shack and UB40. Something is surely in the water! As this is your own private tour, incorporate Ozzy and others places of interest if you wish.

Stay: Birmingham BB

Midlands Day 2 – Places of Robert Plant‘s & John Bonham‘s early years around Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham; visit John Bonham’s grave in Rushock before the motorway drive back to London. Time permitting, perhaps a photo op at Mapledurham Watermill, location for Black Sabbath’s debut album cover, before finishing our adventure this evening back in London.

ZEP 3 day — London’s Western Suburbs, South Wales & The Midlands “The Mini Break”

MiniBreak Day 1 of 3 – start in London, head directly to Jimmy Page‘s former ‘haunts’ in and around Windsor and Pangbourne. Time and interest permitting, perhaps some time in George Harrison’s former village of Henley on Thames before making our way across the bridge into South Wales.

Stay: Usk area, South Wales

MiniBreak Day 2 of 3 – South Wales today, visiting Raglan Castle, as seen in Robert Plant’s dream segment in The Song Remains the Same film. Travel through the stunning Welsh-English borders scenery to Zep locations in the Midlands, seeking out Robert Plant‘s & John Bonham‘s Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham. We can include Black Sabbath and other Birmingham bands locations as time and interest permits. This evening is the opportunity to hit the city nightlife in Birmingham.

Stay: Birmingham BB

MiniBreak Day 3 of 3 – Visit John Bonham’s grave in Rushock; option to break up the long drive back to London in your choice of Stratford Upon Avon or the Cotswolds villages. Perhaps Traffic’s Jim Capaldi’s home village of Evesham? Alternatively, Black Sabbath album cover photo op at Mapledurham Watermill near Reading. Spoilt for choice! Return to London by early evening.

North Wales Led Zep Trail – Bron-Yr-Aur, Machynlleth, Corris Slate Mine, Aberdovey, Aberystwyth, Glyndwr Hotel

Depart Wales for the Midlands of England, focusing on Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham. This evening is the opportunity to hit the city nightlife in Birmingham.
